We had a nuchal translucency screening last week, one of several options for genetic testing offered to pregnant women of advanced maternal age, such as yours truly. We are still awaiting the actual results, but the sonographer said:
- "nicely formed head;" and
- "all of the extremities are there."
For some reason, I never anticipated hearing those things in my lifetime, but both made me feel relieved (obviously) and a bit proud (as if I had something to do with it).
I've meaning to post one of the sonogram pictures, but I keep misplacing them. (Are they in the pocket of my briefcase? My purse? In the office at home?) Let's just say we have some serious "second-child-syndrome" going on already.
