Zander's preschool has a garden and some of the families have plots within that garden. We are the newbies to gardening and have relied heavily on the advice of others, at least one of whom is a 'master gardener.'
On Saturday we had our first harvest, consisting of some lettuce and a few radishes. It was pretty darn exciting (for us).
And just like so many parenting books say...involve your child in the preparation of (or growing of) food and he or she is more likely to eat it. Zander couldn't wait to try the salad at dinner. The next day he asked, "Did we eat all the radishes last night? Bummer."
